The architecture of the WINX Tower
Der WINX Tower ist ein markantes Hochhaus, das sich durch seine Höhe, Kubatur und Fassadengestaltung in die Skyline des Frankfurter Bankenviertels einfügt. Anders als seine Nachbarn nutzt er eine helle Sandstein-Lisenengliederung, die auf den Längsseiten jeweils zwei und auf den Schmalseiten vier Geschosse optisch zusammenfasst. Dies erzeugt einen Maßstabssprung, der dem Gebäude Präsenz und Eleganz verleiht. Der innovative “Schmetterlingsgrundriss” sorgt durch einen sanften Knick in den Längsfassaden und leicht schräg zueinander stehenden Giebeln für Dynamik.
Das Hochhaus hat seinen Haupteingang an der Neuen Mainzer Straße, flankiert vom Portalgebäude, das sich in Maßstab und Fassadengestaltung harmonisch an die Nachbargebäude anpasst. Das Portal bildet die Verbindung zu einer großzügigen, lichtdurchfluteten Eingangshalle. Diese ist 50 Meter lang und erweitert sich auf eine Breite von 26 Metern. Hier befinden sich repräsentative Bereiche wie eine multifunktionale Eingangshalle, Serviceeinrichtungen und Restaurants. Die Glasdachkonstruktion ermöglicht einen freien Blick auf die darunterliegenden Obergeschosse sowie den 110 Meter hohen Tower.
Die Büroflächen im Tower erstrecken sich bis zum 27. Obergeschoss und bieten pro Etage etwa 1.000 Quadratmeter, die flexibel gestaltet werden können. Einzelbüros, Großraumbüros, Besprechungsräume oder ungeteilte Flächen sind gleichermaßen realisierbar. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das 27. Obergeschoss mit einem großen Konferenzraum, einer großzügigen Dachterrasse und Panoramablick über die Stadt.
Das Gebäude integriert sich optimal in das urbane Umfeld und bietet durch das Portalgebäude und die angrenzenden Plätze attraktive Freiräume für Restaurants und Begegnungen. Von der südlichen Alten Mainzer Gasse bis zur Schneidwallgasse im Norden zieht sich eine Achse, die den WINX Tower als Zentrum eines neuen Quartiers definiert.
Neben seiner beeindruckenden Architektur überzeugt das Gebäude mit moderner, ökologisch ausgerichteter Bau- und Haustechnik. The building process
WINX reaches deeper into the ground than any previous development and creates a new “footprint”.
Powerful drills eat into the depths and create space for the bored piles required to transfer the load to load-bearing soil layers.
The area around the excavation pit – here along Neue Mainzer Strasse – has to be extensively supported to prevent it from slipping.

The construction phase of the WINX Tower in Frankfurt marks a new chapter in modern engineering and precision. Foundations reaching deeper than ever before are making an innovative “footprint” in the building ground of the Main metropolis. With the help of powerful drills, bored piles up to 60 meters long were created to safely transfer the load of the future high-rise building into load-bearing layers of soil. The excavation pit, a technical challenge in itself, required elaborate support measures along Neue Mainzer Strasse to prevent the surrounding soil from slipping.
The characteristic butterfly shape of the tower was already taking shape in the excavation pit during the earthworks – a foretaste of the bold architecture that would later enrich the Frankfurt skyline. With each construction phase, the head of the scaffolding, adorned with the lettering visible from afar, climbed a little higher until the final construction height was reached.
The high-tech traffic arteries were built inside the building: Elevators whose complex systems of rails, ropes and cables would later transport employees and visitors quickly and safely. Meanwhile, the outer skin of the WINX Tower was transformed into a work of architectural art. Façade elements and windows were mounted on a precise substructure with millimetre accuracy, giving the building its iconic, gleaming appearance.
With the completion of the construction work – crowned by the terrace and service floor – not only has an architectural masterpiece been completed, but also a symbol of progress and innovation. The WINX Tower impressively demonstrates how well thought-out architecture can set new standards – deeply rooted in its foundations and majestically soaring upwards.
Light art on the WINX tower
Diagonally mounted lighting elements illuminate the top of the WINX high-rise at night. The result is a dynamic crown shape that creates a link to the company name with a stylized “W”. The lighting elements can be controlled individually and with pixel precision and can – depending on the urban program – display moving lines or different color nuances, for example. A special “WOW effect” at this lofty height.
The inner life of the quarter
Einzelzimmer, Doppel-, Team- und Großraumbüros sowie Besprechungsräume verschiedenen Zuschnitts sind gleichermaßen möglich wie ungeteilte Ausstellungs- oder Händlerflächen. 2,91 Meter lichte Raumhöhe und raumhoch voll verglaste Außenwände lassen die Räume großzügig erscheinen. Insbesondere das 27. Obergeschoss bietet sich für aussichtsreiche Besprechungsräume an. Hier entfallen auch die beiden Mittelstützen, sodass sich im südöstlichen Flügel ein 160 Quadratmeter großer Konferenzraum mit dreiseitigem Panoramaausblick sowie eine großzügige Dachterrasse ergibt.
